It affects how people experience your product, how quickly they see value, and whether they stick&nbsp;around.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Classic SaaS pricing advice is to charge based on a value&nbsp;metric.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Canny, we\u2019ve tested a few pricing plans and value metrics over the years. We\u2019ve tried seat-based, feature-based, and usage-based models. Each time, we learned something about how our customers use Canny. Including where we were getting in their&nbsp;way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With our <a href=\"https:\/\/canny.io\/pricing\">new pricing<\/a>, we\u2019re back to a usage-based model. Our value metric is, once again, the number of people leaving you feedback. We\u2019ve removed blockers, and made it easier for teams to get&nbsp;feedback.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s what that means, and why we believe it\u2019s the right move for the teams we&nbsp;serve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Usage-based pricing is back<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You can start for free, and access many of our most powerful features right away. When you&#8217;re consistently capturing feedback, paid plans begin at just $19 per&nbsp;month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pricing now scales with <a href=\"https:\/\/help.canny.io\/en\/articles\/1129559-what-is-a-tracked-user\">tracked users<\/a>. A tracked user is anyone whose feedback ends up in Canny. That can happen in a few different&nbsp;ways:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>They submit feedback directly through your Canny&nbsp;portal<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They vote or comment on an existing&nbsp;post<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your team tracks feedback on their&nbsp;behalf&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Autopilot finds their feedback in tools like Intercom, Zendesk, Gong, or&nbsp;Zoom<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re not collecting much feedback yet, you\u2019ll stay on the Free plan. We made tracked users unlimited and increased base pricing to reflect that change. Our value metric was the number of admin&nbsp;seats.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We also introduced a new contributor admin role. This allowed customers to add unlimited teammates to help manage&nbsp;feedback.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That shift helped in some ways, but it also created new friction. Teams didn\u2019t inherently see more value just by adding more teammates. Even though tracked users were unlimited, many teams struggled to get&nbsp;traction.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We knew we had to revamp our pricing to focus on giving teams what they actually need to&nbsp;succeed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What\u2019s new: more features, fewer limits<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When we looked at the data, we saw a clear pattern: many new signups weren\u2019t capturing feedback, which meant they never saw Canny\u2019s core&nbsp;value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We were limiting access to key features that could help teams get feedback quickly. The biggest one was Autopilot\u2019s Feedback Discovery. Customers had to buy credits to process conversations with Autopilot. The Free plan only included 25 credits per month.
